Bali tourist tax coming soon

Bali to Introduce Tourist Tax for All Visitors, Australians Included

Starting February 14, 2024, all international visitors to Bali, including Australians, will be required to pay a new tourist tax. The tax will be IDR 150,000 (S$13) per person and will be paid electronically upon arrival.

Bali Tourism Department head Tjok Bagus Pemayun has confirmed that the tax is designed to help manage waste disposal and preserve local culture. He has also said that the government does not believe the tax will deter travellers from visiting the island.

Australians are the largest group of international tourists to Bali, with over one million Australians visiting the island each year. They also account for more than a quarter of all tourists in Bali.

While the new tourist tax will add to the cost of a holiday to Bali, it is important to note that Bali is still a relatively affordable destination. The cost of accommodation, food, and activities in Bali is still much lower than in many other popular tourist destinations.

Here’s what you need to know about the new Bali tourist tax:

The tax will be IDR 150,000 (S$13) per person.
It will be paid electronically upon arrival at Bali International Airport.
All international visitors to Bali will be required to pay the tax, including Australians.
Foreign tourists travelling into Bali from other parts of Indonesia will also have to pay the tax.
Domestic Indonesian tourists are exempt from the tax.
The tax will be used to manage waste disposal and preserve local culture.
If you are planning a holiday to Bali in 2024, be sure to budget for the new tourist tax. However, don’t let the tax deter you from visiting this beautiful island. Bali is still a relatively affordable destination and has something to offer everyone.
